It's THC+, as in positive, as in blood type.
The drugged up vampire flick is gearing up for a summer shoot in Sudbury, and
Shawn McLaren and William Andrews can't wait to start rolling.
Drawing blood from vampire and stoner films, THC+ is primed to be "a lot more Dazed and Confused a lot less Blade," Andrews explains.
Andrews, who co-wrote the script, will also take the helm as director. He's directed a handful of shorts since graduating film school, has worked on many productions, and looks forward to embarking on his first feature.
THC+ "stemmed from an idea I had in mind since film school," Andrews explained. "Two archetypal stoner idiot buddies are getting high, staying up late watching B-movies. One's a human smoking weed, and one's a vampire, who drinks his buddy's blood to get high."

Throw in "a B-movie
host, sort of like an Elvira type that they fall in love with," and you
have the makings of a future cult classic.
McLaren, who co-wrote the script with Andrews, is helping to produce the feature. He also has a starring role, and mentions that his experience in stand-up comedy will help bring the character of Doug to life.
Doug's the stoner foil to best-buddy-vampire Chuck, played by Damien Gulde, who's quoted on the film's site saying that playing "a stoned soft-rock singing vampire," was the dream role he didn't know he dreamt of.

Although laughs will abound, McLaren assures fright
fans "there are going to be some
pretty creepy moments, and we are going to play up some scenes to give it that
horror edge to satisfy the diehards."
The THC+ crew have been raising money and awareness for the project since early 2015. In March, they held a fundraiser at The Grand, a popular Sudbury bar, and packed the place. Currently, they're running an Indiegogo campaign to help with costs and spread the word.
Andrews and McLaren emphasized the support they've received from their community has really helped spur the production.

"We're at a
really advantageous place creatively in this town," McLaren said, "because
there are so many people doing things, and they want to collaborate. Everyone's
open to ideas so there are a lot of people here charged about doing things in
town that have cultural value. Not to jinx us, but it's been relatively easy to
pitch this."
"I think you're going to see a lot more grassroots projects coming up," in the area, Andrews added, referring to Sudbury's burgeoning film scene.
